Read Psalm 85
Psalm 85 shows us that it God alone who can revive us.
How easy is it for you to humble yourself before God and tell him how much you need the reviving power of his spirit? Jesus said, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, they shall be satisfied.” How hungry are we?
Look at Psalm 85, what exactly does the psalmist say to God? (Answers: v1-3 – remembers God’s past faithfulness, v4-7 – asks for God’s present revival, v8-9 – listens and obeys God’s word, v10-13 – looks for the Lord’s future provision.)
How do you find prayer, Bible reading and fellowship? How do they revive your spirit?
What problems do you have with prayer, the Bible and loving fellow Christians?
In what ways is our small group characterised by faithfulness and transparency? How can we gain deeper insight into one another’s lives?
How could you encourage another brother or sister by describing how you have experienced God ‘reviving’ you Why would we want to be revived?
Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? Show us your unfailing love Lord and grant us your salvation. Psalm 85:6-7
Take time to – Thank God what God has already done. Repent of current sin. Hunger for righteousness. Trust in God’s mercy and declare his faithfulness. Learn from what God has said. Give thanks for his wonderful grace and faithfulness.
