Giving is private, sacrificial and good for you.
QUESTIONS FOR DISCUSSION
From verses 38-41, what do the religious leaders/rich people’s actions show about their hearts/attitude?
In what specific ways are we similar to them? Give examples.
How can we make sure our financial giving is personal/private unlike their giving?
From verses 42-44, in what ways is the widow different from the religious leaders and rich people?
How does God’s kindness to us motivate us to give in this sacrificial way?
Prayer
Praise God for his undeserved kindness shown to us in sending Jesus to die in our place despite our proud hearts and sinful attitudes.
Pray that God’s grace would motivate us to love and serve Christ more, especially in the way we sacrificially use our money.
