QUESTIONS FOR DISCUSSION

  1. What was the difference between the woman and Simon? What caused her to show more love for Jesus?
  2. How can we become more aware of our debt to God and so become more aware of the magnitude of his forgiveness?
  3. Jesus says the woman’s faith leads to forgiveness and so peace. How does being forgiven by Jesus lead to have peace now?
  4. Are we tempted to look down upon people, or not mix with people who don’t behave socially like us? What do you think the impact of this is?
  5. Can we ever be like Simon the Pharisee forgetting Jesus’ focus on love? How can we better Love God and Love our neighbour this week and in the future?
  6. The woman was prepared to fully identify as a follower of Jesus and show her love for Jesus in a slightly hostile environment. How can we do this in our everyday lives?
  7. How can we more effectively ask other people questions about what they believe about God/ prayer/ life beyond death etc.?

Prayer

Praise Jesus for his forgiveness despite our massive debt to God! Praise him that we can have peace as a result.

Pray that you would know that peace and show love for Jesus despite circumstances or hostility.
