Dear sisters and brothers,
Nehemiah’s prayer is a great example of how to pray in a crisis (Neh. 1.4-11). He ends with this plea, ‘Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of this your servant and to the prayer of your servants who delight in revering your name.’ These words come as Nehemiah is seeking permission to go back to Jerusalem to rebuild the wall. It was about four months between the time he began to pray and the time his request was answered – yes four months!
None of us know how long the Coronavirus situation is going to last – hopefully not four months – but no matter how long, our call is to be like Nehemiah passionate and persistent in prayer. I want to encourage us all to be praying into this crisis and not give up, Jesus taught us the Parable of the Persistent Widow to teach us to ‘pray and not give up’ because prayer really makes a difference (Luke 18.1-8). So please join me and others and commit to praying for an hour or more each week, that His kingdom comes and His will be done.
This Sunday morning at 10am we will be providing an online service, which you can view through the website. Again we have attached the Service of the Word card and a Song Sheet. In addition, we will have the song words displayed on the screen. Sophie has provided two sets of material, one for Sparks and the other for Glow/Flame/Ignite. Matt has also been in touch about Bible studies and teaching material. Please do let us know if you’re not getting these as you may not have signed up to receive them.
Finally, don’t forget the clocks go forward this weekend – enjoy!
Grace and peace to you in the Lord Jesus.
