Dear Church Family,
This week I’ve been mostly enjoying Psalm 27:13-14:
“I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.”
A brief update of things for your prayers and diaries:
1. Praying gathering and walk – this Monday 8pm-9pm (meet at the church building)
Join us to pray for the needs of the world, our neighbourhood and our church. We’ll walk in smaller groups around the neighbourhood to help us pray. Come if you can!
2. Church office during August
With staff on leave in August at different points, just a reminder that if you need to contact the office you can still do that 10am-1pm Monday to Friday (020 8305 0520).
3. Holiday Club
Week three is this coming Tuesday 10th August, then 17th and 24th. Do spread the word and invite others. Book here
4. Holiday at Home
After a great start last Wednesday, the next Holiday at Home for seniors is Wednesday 18th August. Information here
5. Touch Rugby Tuesdays
7pm Tuesdays – have fun running around and chasing a rugby ball on the heath! It’s a mixed sports event – open to adults and youngsters (around teenager or above). Details and contact here
6. Praying for Christian missions & camps this summer
The Scrase-Fields and others are off on beach mission in Abersoch in Wales, and several other members of St John’s are on similar camps as guests and leaders. They’d all appreciate your prayers for fun and fruitful times!
7. Welcome Afternoon – Sunday 5th September 3-5pm
Many new people have joined St John’s during the lockdown and in the autumn we will be having a series of welcome afternoons. Please come if you feel new to St John’s for a time of food, fellowship and information about St John’s. Booking and information here
8. Sunday Services
Morning 9.15 and 11:15am services continue our sermon series through the book of Acts. The latter service is live streamed on our youtube channel.
Evening 6pm service – we continue looking at Psalms 27-31. During August we will no longer be recording the service, although the audio of the sermon should still be available on the website.
Warmly in Christ,
Chris
