QUESTIONS FOR DISCUSSION

  1. From verse 1, what has Jesus just finished saying? (Recap last week and before)
  2. From verses 2 to 5, what do we learn about the centurion and what people thought of him?
  3. What does the centurion need help with?
  4. From verses 6 to 8, what do we learn about what the centurion thought about himself?
  5. How exactly does the centurion ask for help? (In what way? What does he specifically ask Jesus to do?)
  6. Why is Jesus so amazed at the centurion?
  7. What does this miracle show us about Jesus? (Think about where he is at the time and who he is dealing with.)
  8. How is the centurion a demonstration of fruitful faith (what Jesus was talking about in chapter 6)?
  9. When do we struggle to believe Jesus’ words have power? How can we help each other trust Jesus’ words?
  10. What would fruitful faith look like for you this week?

Prayer

Praise Jesus that his words are powerful and can be trusted. Thank him for reaching out to all sorts of people including you!

Pray that your faith in him would be fruitful and you would depend upon his words alone.
