QUESTIONS FOR DISCUSSION
- What do the actions of the paralysed man’s friends show about what they think of Jesus?
- How does Jesus subvert/exceed their expectations?
- How are the friends an example to us as we seek to SPEAK of Jesus?
- Why are the Pharisees so upset/confused?
- Which is easier to say: “Your sins are forgiven” or “Get up and walk’?
- What does Jesus prove he has authority over? How does he do it?
- How did people react?
- How can we not get complacent about the forgiveness we have received from Jesus? What things distract us from having joy in our forgiveness, either good or bad things?
Prayer
- Praise God for forgiveness in Jesus through his death and resurrection. Pray that this would never become old news to you and would fill you with joy.
- Pray for faith and boldness to bring people to Jesus as you speak of him.
