Dear sisters and brothers,

The Weekend Away at High Leigh seems a long time ago now – almost 4 months! Our verse for that weekend of Growing in Discipleship was Philippians 1.6 ‘I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.’ Paul writes these words in the context of thanksgiving and prayer for the church. Over these last few weeks I have been fretting about how will God keep us together, how will we come back together, and all the complexities that this entails. But this verse has reminded me again that we can have confidence that God will bring his work to completion, he will bring us back together, he will ready us for the future – I’m so grateful that ultimately it is his work!

I am sure many of you will be aware that the government has given permission from the 4th July for churches to open for public worship. As you can imagine this is not a straightforward task! We will be conducting a risk assessment and looking into the practicalities that go alongside this. Please bear with us as we put a plan together, and we hope to give you further details next week as to the next steps. I know many of us are keen to be together again, none more than me, but we will need patience and prayer as we move forward together.

Please note that Wendy Goldthorpe our administrator will be going part-time from the Wednesday 1st July. She will be working from home Monday to Friday 9.30 to 1.30 and can be contacted through email or the usual office phone number. If there is an urgent need outside of those times, please call the office number and one of the team will pick this up or please leave a message. We are now actively recruiting a new Administrator/Operations Assistant and the Advert is attached to this email. Please commit this position to prayer as its such a a vital role in the day to day running of the church.

Finally, I do have some sad news to inform you about. Rosemary Gill who lived in the parish but also attended St Luke’s Church in Charlton passed away on Monday. She was a bubbly character who was very much part of the women’s Bible study on Tuesday and attended the monthly Communion service and Make Your Mark. Please pray for her daughter Georgia and all those family and friends affected by her loss.

I look forward to seeing you at one of this weekend services, the link for Zoom refreshments is below
