Dear Church Family
“Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost.” Isaiah 55:1
It’s very easy right now for us to feel weary, worn out and spiritually thirsty! That’s why it’s so important for us to keep responding to God’s perpetual invitation to dine with him. Many of us who have children are using the ‘Meals with Jesus’ devotions during Lent and these have been a great way to be constantly fed and watered by the Lord. It has struck me just how meal times seem to work in a powerful way for these devotions where other times of day do not! When we come, our heavenly Father is dialled into our needs, and so generously provides and nourishes us. There is nothing at the table of the Lord’s hospitality which is ‘fast-food’ or ‘leftovers’. It’s all free to us, only at the cost of his Son, the Lord Jesus – who bore the cost on the cross for us. In this time of Lent, let us listen again to the call to ‘come’, to his beckoning, soul-satisfying voice.
Grace and peace to you in our Lord Jesus
