Dear church family,

“Give thanks to the LORD for he is good; his love endures for ever.” (Psalm 136:1)

As we navigate so many challenges at the moment, it’s so good for our hearts to give thanks to God for his goodness, which never ever changes or runs out.

Four evenings ago, we had an encouraging Annual Parochial Church Meeting. Thank you everyone who was able to come! We thanked God for sustaining, guiding and growing us at St John’s. In particular, may we all thank God for those who have served faithfully on the PCC but are no longer continuing – Matt Baker, David Halford, Amy Obiri, and Alan Wright who will also no longer be on Deanery Synod and the War Memorial Association. They have served wonderfully!

A few other things to mention…

You can still donate to the homeless shelter at Webber Street, which we heard about in our Harvest Thanksgiving last Sunday. London City Mission would really appreciate your help. Here’s the link: https://www.lcm.org.uk/get-involved/donate/st-johns-blackheath

A new CEO is needed for Greenwich Foodbank. The current CEO, Alan Robinson, writes: “We would love to appoint someone from our community who has a passion for the lost and those in need. My journey has been a real adventure with God over the past eight years and I am committed to support a new leader to continued success. This will be a salaried post from now on.

Remember the clocks go back this Sunday! It would be great to see you as we gather together, continuing hearing in our sermons about the Fruit of the Holy Spirit, and Faith That Works (the letter of James). We recommend bringing your own Bible to services to help follow along and even make notes (we still can’t use the church Bibles, because of Covid-hygiene).

Also, rota printouts are now up on the noticeboard.

Yours in Christ,

Chris
