Dear sisters and brothers in Christ,
‘I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.‘ – Galatians 2:20
This Sunday is sometimes referred to as Passion Sunday as we remember Jesus’ suffering as he journeyed from the garden of Gethsemane to the cross. In the Bible there are lots of places where Christ speaks of his love generally for his people but what I like so much about this verse is it speaks of Christ’s love for the individual. Paul recognised that Christ loved him personally and died for him personally. And what is true of Paul is true for each of us, he loves each of us uniquely and gave his life for you, dying for all your sins and failures. As we approach Easter, let us delight in what it means to be loved personally and individually by the Lord Jesus. Let us also pray that we too may grow in our desire for others to know this amazing love, that we may Speak – Pray – Love our neighbours so they too may come to know Him who loves them and gave his life for them.
