Dear church family
“Precious in the sight of the LORD
is the death of his faithful servant.”
Many of us have lost people precious to us since the start of the pandemic. The loss when someone dies – or indeed the loss from physical separation for whatever reason – can be very hard to bear and we feel great pain. I am sad to announce that Brenda Webb died on Tuesday morning – she was a member of St John’s for many, many years until she moved closer to family around 18 months ago. She had served faithfully as a Church of England Reader for much of her time here. Many of us will remember her sweet smile, but all the more so her persistent, gentle encouragement in the grace of Jesus Christ. Her family have told us she took great delight in all the contact from St John’s church family over recent months, and she was at peace when she passed away. Her funeral service is likely to be at St John’s and we will send out more details as these are known. We are sad but at the same time we can take heart that she is “precious in the sight of the LORD”.
I look forward to seeing you soon. May we know God’s grace and peace in the days ahead.
