Dear Brothers and Sisters

‘We live by faith, not by sight’ – 2 Corinthians 5.7

For many, the recent announcement from the government came as a disappointment. Perhaps like me you were beginning to think about half-term or even Christmas with family and friends – socialising with people you’ve not seen for a long time. My sense is that as time moves on, and we experience the bumps of this pandemic, there will be an increasing restlessness in us all, longing to spend time with the ones we love.

For the Christian, this restlessness shouldn’t surprise us, for we are anticipating something far greater that lies ahead and we have a longing to be at home with the Lord:  ‘We are confident … and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.’ (v8).  The longing to be reunited with a loved one – that moment of crossing the threshold and being greeted with open arms is one we can all relate to. How much more is that going to be true when we go home to the Lord Jesus? As we continue to face the uncertainties of this life, let us remain confident of this glorious future.

Sunday Services – 9.15 & 11.15 and 6pm

The recent ‘rule of six’ announcement DOES NOT affect people attending in-person services at St John’s. Information and instructions about attending can be found below.  We will continue to livestream the 11.15 and 6pm services.

Please make sure you’ve read the guidelines for attending our services

Electoral Role Update

Our revision of the Church Electoral Roll is approaching, and those wanting to apply, or amend their details, will need to collect a paper version of the application form from church. If you would prefer an electronic copy, please email the church office to request your copy.

Hard and electronic copies need to be completed, signed, and returned by Sunday 27th September, which is our deadline.

For the Diary
Sunday 27th September 6pm ‘Open to Question Service’.   Just to remind you to look out for this event as Raymond Brown from Grace Church Brockley, comes to speak on the important topic of ‘Race and Racism’.

With love and prayers, Eddie
