‘Even now,’ declares the LORD, ‘return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.’ Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity.’ Joel 2:12-13
As we enter this new phase in the pandemic, the Archbishops have sent out a letter to all ministers encouraging our churches over these next four weeks, to focus on the Lord, in prayer and fasting on Thursdays. Many of us may be unfamiliar with fasting and so I attach below a few summary points to help you. Linked in with this call to prayer can I remind you that the church building remains open Monday to Friday 10am to 1pm for prayer and reflection. Furthermore, be encouraged as we meet together for our monthly prayer Gathering on Monday. Please do join us via Zoom, whether you’ve been before or not, as we recall Joel’s reminder to us all, and to our nation to ‘return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love.’
