Small Groups

The Small Groups form the basis of the St John The Evangelist Programme, or STEP. The aim of STEP is to encourage every member of St. John’s church to belong to a small group of people in order to build friendship and faith. The groups vary in what they do, but are held together by our common vision for Meeting God, Growing Together and Reaching Out.

Why are STEP groups important?

Relationships are at the heart of church life and most people that have been part of a group say that the greatest benefit is the close friendships that develop. Life as a Christian is not always straightforward and STEP groups provide a great forum for us to discuss and learn together. The church is called to grow by going out to others and inviting others in. STEP groups provide a creative and fun opportunity for us to do this together.

Homegroups

Homegroups meet in people’s homes to discuss the Bible, pray together, have fun and support each other in their exploration of the Christian faith.

Activity Based Groups

Activity Groups meet together around a shared interest.

Community Groups

Community Groups are involved in a variety of activities that aim to include people in the local area.

Short Courses

St John’s regularly runs courses to help people grow in their understanding of the Christian faith and how it relates to different parts of their lives.

These include: the Alpha course, marriage preparation,  Christianity Explored course, Mark’s Gospel course and our Lent courses.
