St. John’s Journey
May 4 @ 10:00 am - May 6 @ 5:00 pm
Join us for either 1, 2 or 3 days on foot or bike to Bradwell on Sea.
Suitable for all ages including young children.
This is what this years journey will look like:
Saturday 4th May: St John’s to East Horndon – out of London through Green Chain Walks/cycle routes and Country Parks wherever possible. Stay overnight at Travelodge or return home.
Sunday 5th May: East Horndon to Danbury – Essex countryside has less hills than Kent!!! Stay overnight at Danbury outdoor centre (youth hostel style) or return home.
Monday 6th May: Danbury to Bradwell – St Peter’s Chapel is a tiny ancient chapel out on the marshes. Coach home.
The St John’s Journey first began back in 2003 to celebrate St John’s Church being 150 years old…it was just a walking Journey and was to Canterbury….In 2005 the cyclists joined in and we have been journeying together either on foot or by bike every year since then. We always start at St John’s and end after 2 or 3 days of walking/cycling with a service in a cathedral, local church and once even on a Lightship! We stay each night either in Travelodges, Adventure centres or can even camp, a packed lunch is provided each day and there is a coach home at the end! It is open to all ages and abilities.
We want to start encouraging as many as possible to JOIN THE JOURNEY, for all or part of it, and by walking, cycling or supporting ie roll making/delivering, driving minibus.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested to find out more.
Hope you can join us!
