YOUTH WORKER / MINISTER REQUIRED (FULL TIME)
Closing date: Monday 15th June 2021 at noon
CONTEXT & PURPOSE
St John’s Blackheath is looking to continue to ‘Grow the next generation’ in line with our current vision statement. Our hearts’ desire is to see young people become Christians and grow deeper as disciples of Christ.
The children and youth work in St John’s has developed significantly since its relaunch in 2017. As well as the Sunday youth groups, the church holds a number of midweek Bible studies for 11-18 year olds. We have also established significant contacts within our local secondary schools. Recently we have seen considerable growth through the children’s work with many young people about to come through into the older groups . We are seeking someone to lead and co-ordinate the youth ministry, especially as we rebuild post COVID-19. with two key aspects of this being:
– To oversee and lead the discipleship of young people aged 11–18.
– To support parents and carers in their primary role to disciple their children.
We want our new youth worker/minister to move us on with fresh vision and energy, to see young people come to faith in the Lord Jesus and mature in that faith. We desire under God to be a really attractive church community for young people to live and serve. This is an exciting opportunity as we seek to grow as a church. The successful candidate will work closely with the existing staff team, as well as a large team of volunteers. There is a genuine occupational requirement that the post holder is a practicing Christian and will be committed to worshipping at St John’s Church sharing in all aspects of church life.
