Bible Reading Plans
The Bible is a powerful book that has shaped and transformed countries, cultures and citizens around the world and across hundreds of years! For 2010 St. John’s has produced a Reading Plan to enable you to read the whole of the New Testament in 6 months. The readings are designed to complement our preaching series through Acts of the Apostles that began in February 2010. Please click the icon below in order to download the 6 month plan.
As part of our “Growing Together” focus in 2009 we considered taking up the challenge of “Reading the Bible in a Year”. Even in 2010 you can start ‘Reading the Bible in a Year’, just start with Reading Plan 1 and follow the scheme as laid out. There are two reading schemes (a simple scheme and a full scheme) to help you through this process.
Bible Buddies!
Ask a friend to join you in reading the Bible in a year or take up the challenge as a STEP group. Perseverance is often made possible when we are in the company of others, so don’t struggle with the Bible alone, get a Bible Buddy!
What is a Bible Buddy?
Bible Buddies are people who have committed to follow the St. John’s Bible in a Year reading plan. They will meet regularly (e.g fortnightly, monthly, bi-monthly) to talk about what they have read, share any struggles, help with understanding and encourage each other. Please keep things flexible and informal.
Who would make a good Bible Buddy?
A friend, STEP group member, prayer triplet, your spouse, etc. Find someone, or a group, from the church who you are comfortable to talk to and agree a schedule of how and where you will meet (e.g home, pub, coffee shop, workplace). If you don’t know who to ask, or would like a member of the church staff to help you link up with someone then please let us know. We would also like to keep a list of all Bible Buddy groups so that we can encourage you and invite you to lunch!
What happens if I get stuck?
Please consider buying one of our book recommendations to help you navigate your way through the Bible and get the most out of what you read.
