Activity Groups
The wide range of Activity Groups meet together around a shared interest in a certain activity.
Christian Solidarity Worldwide
Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW) is a human rights organisation which specialises in religious freedom, works on behalf of those persecuted for their Christian beliefs and promotes religious liberty for all. A group from St. John’s meets on the second Monday of each month to pray for the persecuted church. The group also attends prayer days, conferences and protests organised by CSW as well as writing to MPs on behalf of persecuted Christians. Contact Ros and Henry Dalton on 020 8853 1150 for more information.
Cycling Group
Pedal your way to fitness whilst having fun in the Cycling Group. This group is open to all regardless of age or pedalling speed! Please join us on the 3 or so rides we run every year plus the Pilgrimage which is over 3 days on the first May bank holiday.
Flower Arranging
Can you tame a tulip; do you talk to your plants? If you do then the Flower Arranging group could be for you. Each week the flowers are obtained and then arranged into the beautiful creations you see each Sunday. We usually work on a rota system; however, when there is a festival, such as Christmas, we get together to work as a team. We are in great need of new members and we are very happy to arrange for an experienced ‘buddy’ to work with a new member. It’s not really as daunting as you think, although it’s different from home arranging (unless you live in a stately home!), and can be quite soothing. So if you are beginner, or someone who enjoys floral arranging at home or you just love flowers please do join us by contacting Priscilla via the Church Office.
Football and Cricket
The St. John’s Football Team plays matches monthly and plays socially weekly during the summer.
Cricket takes place during the summer with the Annual Match against St Michaels in Greenwich Park as well as opportunities to have practice at the Nets at Blackheath Prep. School.
Gardening
Peter Andrews and Simon Turner help to keep nature under control in the gardens around the church. They would warmly welcome others to join them, especially as there is a sizable project afoot in the gardens of one of the church’s Housing Association properties. All equipment will be provided for you if you wish to help. If you are interested in joining in, then please contact the Church Office.
Make Your Mark
Make Your Mark is a craft group for adults.
