Senior Citizens

One of our Readers, Brenda Webb, takes responsibility for pastoral care of older people within St John’s and also for our involvement with the elderly in Our Parish and beyond; this includes visiting the housebound and taking them communion.

Meetings and Services

There is a service/fellowship meeting in Tudor Grange in the Parish once a month.

Homegroups

There is currently one afternoon homegroup which serves older people; this meet once a fortnight.

Pam’s Pantry

On the first Tuesday of each month a team of helpers, led by Pam Moseling, prepares a three course lunch for the elderly at the Boy’s Brigade Hall. The lunches are attended by about 30 people and Peter the vicar usually gives a short talk during lunch and we close with prayer and a hymn.

The dates for 2012 are: 7th Feb, 6th March, 3rd April, 1st and 29th May, 3rd July, 2nd October, 6th November, 4th December.There is not one in June because the Queen’s Jubilee.

Easter Tea/Christmas Lunch

Each year we have an Easter Tea  and Christmas Lunch in church.

Holiday at Home

Each year we also run a ‘Holiday at Home’ event in the church for older people in August. The dates for 2012 are the 15th and 16th August…contact Brenda Webb for more details via the church office on 8305 0520.

Last yearsHoliday at Home’ included a cream tea, quizzes, lunch at a pub, a recital and much more!

Songs of Praise

Every few months we haveSongs of Praise’ in church where we have bible readings, hymns and tea and cake.Please contact the church office or Brenda if you would like to attend.
